Arrive in Guangzhou. Your tour guide will meet you at the airport and you will be transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of day at leisure.

After breakfast, visit Yuexiu Park, the largest park in downtown Guangzhou. In the park, you will visit one of emblems of Guangzhou, the Five-Ram Sculpture. The sculpture represents the five rams who gave Guangzhou its nickname “City of Rams” and were formerly honoured at its Temple of the Five Immortals. These immortals were said to have ridden rams into the city soon after its founding, teaching its residents how to grow rice and ending the spectre of famine forever. Locals consider the rams as the symbols of good luck. Followed by a visit to the Sun Yat-sen Memorial Hall, which was built in 1931 in memory of Mr Sun Yat-sen, one of the greatest leaders of modern China, who overthrew the Qing dynasty during the Xinhai Revolution. Then you will have a delicious Cantonese Dim Sum meal for your lunch. In the afternoon, visit Beijing Road Pedestrian Street, one of the most bustling commercial street in Guangzhou, and explore ancient sites at one of the oldest roads in Guangzhou. Later, you will visit Flower City Square, the largest city square in Guangzhou. Guangzhou Opera House, Guangdong Museum and Guangzhou Library are also located around the square. You can also see the full view of Canton Tower, located on the other side of the Pearl River. Feel free to spend your evening here enjoying the remarkable night view of the Canton Tower and the surrounded skyscrapers, or you can join the optional cruise on the Pearl River w/ dinner ($75 per person, at your own expense) for a glimpse of the dazzling and fascinating night view of Guangzhou from the river.

Optional Tour: Cantonese Culture Day Tour ($150 per person, at your own expense)
After breakfast, visit the Chen Clan Academy, an academic temple built in 1894. It was built by the 72 Chen clans for their juniors’ accommodation and preparation for the imperial examinations in Qing Dynasty. Then, tour Xiguan (Saikwan), literally the Westgate of the old walled city of Guangzhou. Xiguan Area was the commercial centre of the whole Guangdong Province (previously called Nanhai) back to Ming & Qing dynasties. The Thirteen Factories trading ghetto located on it southern shore was the only trading port of China in 17th Century. You can still see lots of heritages of Xiguan including buildings of Xiguan Residences and arcades, as well as tea houses and restaurants. Then you will visit Liwan Museum, where you can actually get into a Xiguan Residence and learn about how wealthy businessmen used to live. Later, visit the Cantonese Opera Art Museum. In the afternoon, you will have some free time strolling around the Shamian (Shameen) Island before transferring back to hotel.

Optional Tour: Whampoa Military Academy Memorial and Lingnan Impression Garden Day Tour ($150 per person, at your own expense)
After breakfast, travel by coach to visit the Whampoa Military Academy Memorial. Whampoa Military Academy was established in 1924 at Changzhou Island, aiming to train military officials during the period of first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party. The former site was bombed in 1938 during China’s War of Resistance against Japan, and was restored in 1965. There are many attractions such as the main gate, classrooms and dormitories of military officials, and the former residence of Sun Yat-sen. Enjoy yourself with some free time. In the afternoon, you will visit the Lingnan Impression Garden. Located in the south of Guangzhou University Mega Center, Lingnan Impression Garden is a tourist resort integrating leisure, sightseeing, recreation, shopping, catering, Lingnan Culture and folk customs. Traditional alleys and lanes, ancestral halls, houses and temples of distinctive Lingnan style can be widely seen around the garden. This garden shows the real living sceneries of Lingnan people.
