Ride the rail on the UNESCO World Heritage-listed Himalayan Queen toy train. You'll weave past charming villages and lush mountainsides as the train ascends to Shimla, a picturesque town nestled in the foothills of the Himalayas, from where you can explore the 'summer capital' of the British Raj.

Namaste! Arrive in Delhi, the capital of India, where you will be met by a tour representative on arrival and transferred to your hotel.

Please note: Depending on the city of departure chosen, some flights may depart the night before on Day 0. Flights to Delhi will be via connecting cities and may involve more than one transit.

This morning, begin your journey with a visit to Qutub Minar, the tallest brick minaret in Delhi. Nest, visit the Rail Museum to learn about the history of the Indian railway. Proceed with a visit to Humayun’s Tomb, an iconic building which inspired the Taj Mahal, followed by the India Gate and a drive past the President’s House and Parliament House. Cap off the day with a welcome dinner.
Qutub Minar in Delhi
Transfer to the railway station to board the Gatimaan Express, the fastest train in India. Arrive in Agra, where you will be met by the local guide and transferred to your hotel to rest. Later in the afternoon, visit the majestic Taj Mahal and Agra Fort.
Taj Mahal
Transfer to the railway station to board the Ziyarat Express to Sawai Madhopur. On arrival, you will be met by a local guide and transferred to your hotel in Ranthambore. Later in the afternoon, visit Ranthambore Fort before returning to the hotel for dinner.
Go on an early morning safari to see wildlife at Ranthambore National Park. Return to the hotel for rest before taking another safari in the evening, to increase your chances of sighting wildlife – and especially the elusive tiger.

Leave the wilderness behind and proceed onwards to Jaipur, the ‘Pink City’. In the afternoon, head to Jaipur’s Old City and make a brief photo stop at Hawa Mahal (‘Palace of the Winds’) before a visit to the local markets and handicraft stores.

This morning ascend Amber Fort by jeep/elephant. Visit the City Palace and the Jantar Mantar Observatory. You will be transferred to the railway station in the evening to board the Shatabdi train to Delhi.

Transfer to the railway station to take the Shatabdi train to Kalka. On arrival, board this UNESCO World Heritage toy train to Shimla (it’s known as a’toy train because it runs on a very narrow gauge track). Enjoy the scenery on the way to Shimla – deciduous forests, rolling hills, and hundreds of tunnels and bridges.

Enjoy a full day sightseeing in Shimla, which was once the ‘summer capital’ of British India and is now a popular retreat for holidaymakers during India’s summer months. Take in the sights of Mall Road, Christ Church and Jakhoo Hill.
Transfer to the railway station to board the same trains back to Delhi.
Shima train station
This morning visit Raj Ghat and the famous Jama Masjid in Old Delhi, and get some last minute souvenirs shopping done. Enjoy a farewell dinner before being taken to the airport for your flights home.
Arrive home today.
